Twillingate is almost as well known for whale watching as it is for icebergs. Just last week a local tour boat operator came upon a pod of about 20 killer whales. The orca are not frequent visitors to these waters but were lured in by a tantalizing feast of capelin. Much more common are the humpbacks, with their hauntingly magical songs, and the smaller minke whale. So exciting to watch them jump and play. The fin whale or fin-back whale is also a visitor to these waters. And dolphins, of course, frequently play in local splashing grounds.
